Pre-School Admissions

We welcome admissions of pre-school children after they turn three. Children generally receive Government funding the term after they turn three. If you would like your child to start as soon as they turn three you can purchase sessions, this can be done by speaking to Mr Attkins or the office.

If your child is eligible for 30 hours extended childcare, we can offer from 9am until 3pm each day.

Wrap around care (Breakfast Club and Afterschool Club) can be purchased at the same rate as the rest of school. Children is Nursery do not receive universal free school meals and so would need to pay £2.40 for an school dinners they consume.

Reception Admissions
Children begin school each September at the beginning of the school year in which they attain their fifth birthday. We welcome visitors to the school - it may help you in the decision making process as you decide the right school for your child. If you are considering Dalton St Michael's C.E. Primary for your child, please ring the school office on 01257 462082 to arrange a visit with Iain Attkins, the Headteacher. 

As a church school, applications for places in our reception class should be made via Lancashire County Council's website here . For further information regarding the application process, please contact Pupil Admissions South on 01772 532 109 or email SouthAdmissions@lancashire.gov.uk.

 

The closing date for applications is January 15th 2026.

Letters informing parents of their child's allocated place will be sent out by the Local Authority on 16th April 2026.

In the event your child is not allocated their first choice school you have a right to appeal. Please contact the Pupil Access team for further information.

The school Governors have recently made the decision to exceed the admission number by increasing the number from 10 to 12 from September 2017. This has been supported by Liverpool Diocese and Lancashire Admissions.

 

In-year Admissions

In-year admission is the process of applying for a school place during the school year. Any application for the intake made after the start of the autumn term will be treated as an in-year application.

 

The in-year admission process is managed by the school. Parents are required to complete the in-year application form, which is available below. Where a place cannot be secured, parents will be offered a legal right to appeal to an independent appeal panel. Lancashire County Council administers the appeals process on behalf of the school.
